C.A.M.P. Gator Team Dr. Matthew Ohlson Director Matthew Ohlson is the Founder and Director of the CAMP Gator program and also currently serves as the Principal and Instructional Leader of Florida Virtual School, which is comprised of more than 3,200 students and 50 teachers. He is a 15-year educator committed to creating partnerships to bring about lasting change in high-need schools. His previous projects include a computer training/donation program, an after-school program for children and a first-year urban teacher training program. Prior to his involvement with CAMP Gator, Dr. Ohlson was Professor in Residence at the School of Teaching and Learning, Doctoral Fellow for the Department of Educational Administration and Policy and Educator Fellow Program Facilitor for the Lastinger Center for Learning at the University of Florida. He has also authored a number of articles and delivered numerous presentations as well. Dr. Ohlson has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida. Russell Froman Associate Director Russell Froman is Associate Director of CAMP Gator and also serves as a Site Coordinator for P. K. Yonge Developmental Research School, where he is currently Assistant Principal. Dr. Froman has over 19 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in both public school education and higher education. He is a member of the Florida DOE Safe and Drug Free Schools Panel and Northeast Florida Education Consortium (NEFEC) Safe and Drug Free School Advisory Council. Dr. Froman previously served as Assistant Principal at Enka Middle School in Ashville, NC, Guidance Counselor and Teacher at West McDowell Junior High in Marion, NC and Associate Dean of Continuing Education at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC. He also spent nearly a decade as Assistant Director of Student Activities at the University of Florida. Dr. Froman has an Ed.D. in Education Administration from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Educational Psychology from Florida State University and a B.S. in Physical Education from Auburn University.
